Combe Pafford a New Rural Village within Torquay an existing town

Combe Pafford in Torquay is an example of a total Arts and Crafts Rural Village built in about 1948 to create a complete new Rural Village in the middle of what was already an established Town. 4 Combe Pafford Torquay – an Urban ‘Village ………… Constructed as a part of the immediate post second World War building for people initiative, the Combe-Pafford Estate is situated towards the outer edge and very much embedded into the very Urban Town that is Torquay. It is therefore not really a Rural Village at all, and this very much exemplifies an actuality of the ‘Rural Village Dream’ of the Arts-and-Crafts movement, carrying such significance for so many English-speaking people.
