Villages become Urban Districts

Battersea Old Village is typical of many areas throughout the United Kingdom in that, despite composing the heart of an old and historic original Riverside Fishing Village it was nearly swept away by proposed ‘Road Improvements’ in the 1970’s. Fortunately a campaign by local residents saved it from destruction.
